Hi guys, I've searched without much luck so I'm appealing to the masses. I have a 2004 w/ NAV and would like the option of the OEM SAT radio that was available in 05+. I have a USA Spec ipod unit combined with the VAIS XM radio interface and it's clunky at best. Yes I appreciate that I can control things that were not even available for my year but I'm looking for an improved user interface.
Has anyone added the tape deck portion of a 05+ radio to the rest of an 04 NAV unit to successfully get the OEM SAT radio option? I don't want to exchange the entire unit due to cost limitations and I suspect finding an 05+ tape deck will be pricey as is. The pic below is my 04 version I want to replace with 05-07 w/ SAT button.
I've reached out to RobRed but haven't found a definitive answer and also checked with cruiserparts.net for the part w/o much luck. Anyone in SoCal going to be pulling their 05+ radio for ipod install want to let me try theirs?
