Long story short my Fiancée and I were gifted a low mileage pristine LX470 from her dad.
A few weeks later squirrels ate into the engine wiring harness.
Insurance has said they will cover it, but got quoted $10,000 by the Lexus dealer, so looks like it’s gonna get totaled out.
I think I will likely take the payout from insurance, buy the truck back, and do the repair myself.
I’ve thoroughly gone through it, the only damage is to the main engine wiring harness. Some of it near the MAF sensor, some coming from the brake actuator for the ABS, a large ground, and then the shielded wire that goes to (I think) the knock sensor. The shielded wire is what concerned me the most, plus the wires to the break actuator, that makes me want a whole harness as opposed to the splices/solders I did to get it to start.
How bad is replacing the full harness on these trucks? I’m mildly mechanically inclined (Have done everything short of an engine swap) and will have a friend with more experience helping some on the project.
