What’s going on guys, I just purchased 2004 LX470 with 90,000 miles on her! Looking at replacing the current air ride suspension with an old man emu lift kit but what I’m reading says that there is no way to level it completely. I also read that with the 2.0-2.5 kit from Old Man Emu I am limited to a 31inch tire which is basically what’s stock on the vehicle. PLEASE HELP

If it ain't broke.... as they say!

Great looking ride!

You will destroy the ride of that vehicle with everything you mentioned. Unless its a rust pile just dial in the AHC and save tons of money.

These trucks are incredibly capable vehicles in stock form.

If you really want all that OME stuff I hear Jeeps are great.

Thanks! I am really enjoying it! I thought about keeping the factory air ride but it’s not working properly atm and most people are telling me to get rid of it because it’s problematic

Try to sort out the issue... unless it is a complete system failure via the pump, pressure valves and globes. You may want to speak with a mechanic who is knowledgeable with these systems instead of relying on opinions...

My most recent purchase (01 LX) had the system removed by a prior owner, over ten years ago! I wish that had not occurred.

Would agree with keeping it. It’s really slick when functioning. My 04 LX recently got a fluid flush and globes from impex. About 2 hours of work and it rides like new, raises, lowers, etc. I would venture to guess your issue is something simple and would be less expensive to repair compared to whatever you would spend on an ome setup.

Its hydraulic. Not air.

Tons of info here on how to baseline. Dont be a “most people”. They are usually lazy.

The people telling you that must know nothing about AHC lol. It's a great system. Get Techstream up and running (free online) on a windows pc or a mac with parallels and read the ABCs of AHC thread on here to dial it in. I'd bet that looking at the pressures and doing a sensor adjustment, torsion bar adjustment, and fluid flush will get it back in working order and you'll enjoy an infinitely better ride than an OME kit and have the adjustability. Even if the globes are shot, replacing them is easy and they are <$500 from Impex in Japan.

Whoever is giving you advice knows very little btw. A 33" tire will easily fit on these trucks with AHC in stock form...275/70/18 is the most common size folks go to, including me.

Where are you in NC? If you're close to Durham, I'm happy to hook up my laptop and we can view the pressures/sensors in Techstream.

Stock AHC with 275’s. It’s a fantastic ride, keep it if you can-no rubbing

@BigTex1995 Respectfully, you'll gain a lot of understanding with some quick research on AHC. It's a weird system that most people are completely unfamiliar with (and therefore offer completely ill-guided opinions on).

You do not have "air ride". That's a totally different thing.

Here's a great resource for getting up to speed. It's not a crazy complicated thing, but it is unique.

Welcome and good luck!

@BigTex1995 Respectfully, you seem to understand almost nothing about the suspension in your car.

If you're going to mess with the suspension and expect anything better than "terrible" results, educate yourself.

If you have no interest in educating yourself on your vehicle, you may have purchased the wrong car...
They’re simply asking a question so let’s not be condescending when we’re all here to learn more. I’ve ran into self proclaimed Toyota master mechanics who know nothing about AHC.

You're totally right. My post came off far more "gatekeeper" than intended. That was meant more as a "FYI, your current quick summary is inaccurate and you'll gain a lot from some quick research on the topic, which can be found here."

I'll edit to correct that tone.

I would learn and keep the AHC. Having a dynamic suspension is amazing.
Follow Andy’s advice and you’ll get it dialed in. If you need parts I would visit Impex Japan for oem parts at a great price (just have to wait for shipping).

I concur with the other replies as I have had 80 series, 100 series, 3 x 200 series and my old girl (not my hot Asian GF :)) at 512k km rides better than all of those and my brother has just purchased a 2017 Y62 Nissan Patrol that rides like a pile of crap compared to the Lexus. I always viewed the LX as just a LC100 with a badge and some wood work....changed my tune very quickly
