I was looking for aftermarket ECM's to run a 2uz-fe and a750f out of a 2004 100 series and the engine side is easy but no joy on the trans side. I'm thinking I need to get the factory ECM up and running to control the trans while I use a piggy back to control the engine. Problem is that I purchased the engine, trans and t-case from a wrecker and have no electronics aside from the ECM. I've been doing what I can to look through the FSM's that I've found and done my fair share of Googling the security features on the donor vehicle but would like further verification on parts. From my understanding the 2uz has a transponder built into the ECM, that is triggered by a code from the transponder key. The code from the transponder key is picked up via the amplifier in the ignition switch assembly and goes direct to the ECM. Can anyone tell me if there are any other parts involved? Some vehicles, Toyotas included, have a separate transponder controller. Can't seem to verify that the 2UZ has the transponder completely built in aside from the amp and receiver. If it's just an ignition and amp then I can get this sorted but being in NZ I want to get the parts right the first time.

This is all going into a project vehicle so factory options aside from engine and trans are not an issue.
