I have a 2003 DC Tacoma that had the anti-lock brake light come on about 6 mo. ago. The e-locker does not function as well.

I had the auto shop teacher do a diagnostics check and it showed rear speed sensor was bad.

My question is: can a check be done to the system with jumper wires or other means to verify his diagnostics before I buy a couple hundred dollar part that can not be returned?

This truck has had the grey wire mod.

Thanks

If you really want to, you can check the resistance of the wires running from the sensor all the way to the abs module. Check that they're also not shorted together, shorted to ground, or shorted to power. Ie, unplug sensor and abs module, check the resistance between the 2, Check the resistance of each of them to the negative battery cable, and check for volatge on them with them still unplugged and the key on and off. You should less the 1.5 or so ohms end to end. Open or ol between the 2 and to the negative battery terminal. And there should be no power on them with both ends unplugged. If it all checks out it needs a sensor or module. Hope this helps! pm me if You need more info
