About to tackle shock install this week, OEM Toyota shocks. Searched for a DIY writeup and now I'm confused. I understand that a flex head ratcheting box wrench will be my best friend when i get to the rear shocks however I'm confused on what size the top nut is (seeing both 19 & 22mm references). Can anyone confirm this?

And this is in the Forum FAQs:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-remove-install-rear-shocks-springs-on-the-uzj100.49190/

It includes the link provided by blatant as well as other links to other methods. Read a bunch on MUD before you tackle the job. It will save you a lot of blood. Many have gone before to slay the dragon of the rear shock top nuts.

Here's my post of a while ago when I did mine:

"Installed 4 new OEM shocks. The smashed fingers will heal, the PB Blaster smell in my hair will go away, and my vocabulary will return to normal. Didn’t use the hole saw method for the rears, but came close enough to have punched-marked the hole and put the saw in the drill chuck. Before drilling I did just one last shove on the strap wrench with my foot and the top rear PS shock nut finally let loose. The Klein Grip-It 12” strap wrench and the 22mm Gearwrench were the stars of the show for both removing and installing."

All done. Started with the rears for fear of not being able to get them out. Top nut is 22mm, 7/8ths worked fine. Not as terrible as anticipated, still took a good bit of swearing and beer.
