Hey all,
I may have a deal on a Toyota original nav screen out of a 4Runner... original in the box...
...the nature of the deal is such that I would be stupid NOT to buy it.
Anyone installed one in a 4th Gen 4Runner (Though I suppose it would be the same as any other Toy that has the nav optional -- Sequoias, Camry, Siennas, etc) which was not originally equipped with NAV???
I don't have the JBL stereo, just the plain-jane Toyota Head unit that came in the '03 SR5 4Runners.
Does the nav system head unit use an external amplifier to drive the speakers? If so, can you use any generic off the shelf amp, or does it have to be a Toyota amp? Where does Toyota hide the GPS antenna?
The cost of this Nav unit would be the same as a bluetooth GPS system for my Nokia e61 -- so if I have a choice between a 6-7" screen and factory fit and finish compared to a 2.5" screen with the Nokia suction-cupped to the dash somplace, I'd rather go with the factory unit.
And since the 4Runner is the road-warrior and the wife's and my long trip vehicle, I'd really like to keep the interior clean and clutter-free. If I get it, when I install it, I'll also take the opportunity to hardwire in the XM satellite radio unit so we don't have to use the FM modulator anymore.
Thanks in advance,
Fred
