Recently purchased a 2002 LC with 126k miles - loving it no problems until two days ago when it would not start. Ignition turns over like normal but will not fire. I sprayed starter fluid into the intake and finally got it to run. Drove it the next day without incident - started fine ran fine. I called a mechanic friend who suggested pressing the accelerator while in "start" then turn the ignition. This worked for me today but I'm concerned that there may be a larger problem headed my way. Has anyone experienced similar problem? Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks in advance for any help.

Next time it happens check the dash for the flashing red security light and report back.

no security light - thought that might have been the problem as well. Tried my other set of keys; locked and unlocked the doors still would not start. Seems like applying the accelerator while in start position for a second or two and then turning the ignition works after a few attempts.

Check the air filter for clogging.
Is there any chance you have water or condensation in the fuel?
Bought gas from a questionable gas station lately?
If so, fill the tank with premium and see if that helps.
These are the cheap and easy fixes.
Try them first.
