Seller's name is Mike. I talked to him yesterday to schedule a test drive. Seemed cool on the phone, then went MIA when tried to schedule time and location to meet today. I live 5 hours from him (in Santa Barbara) so it was going to be a planned "event" to see the truck. Been about 36 hours since we spoke and still no replies.
I called him out on his initial ad being confusing by having two asking prices ($14,800 and $16,800).
Not sure if this is a scam, but time will tell.
Also, no palm trees in the pictures...which is strange. Not impossible, but very strange for that area of SD. haha

I’m almost positive it is a scam. I live in San Diego and he refuses to cooperate. Said he had a Carfax but will not send it and will not send the Vin number. Says he will only deal in cash meaning not even a cashiers check. Clearly this is a scam or there’s something seriously wrong with this vehicle and it’s either stolen or salvaged or odometer rollback or any combination of that . He also does not live in Coronado as he shows but I don’t even know if the car even exist at this point. It’s too bad that he’s wasting everyone’s time .

Same story - I asked for vin number over the phone and he reacted quickly, defensively. I said for me to run Carfax and Toyota owners maintenance history. He immediately replied with him already having a printed copy (only) of Carfax report. I asked him to text me photos of it before I committed to the 5 hour drive. He said he’s get it to me in a couple hours... still waiting.
Careful guys.
Glad people on this forum are looking out for each other.

That’s exactly what he did to us. Said he was going to send a picture of it and never did, clearly he’s hiding something. My guess is either odometer rollback, stolen vehicle, or salvage title. The most frustrating thing is that I live apparently 2 miles from him but he refuses to cooperate and I’m not going over there to waste my time as clearly this is not legitimate. He kept repeating that he only will take cash meaning literally hundred dollar bills that also indicates that his name is definitely not Mike and the title is not in his name .

That's scary, glad folks are being careful. Good luck in your searches.
