My wife called me last night. She had the air conditioning on but noticed she had a hot butt. I thought maybe she was just having an off day and needed positive reinforcement or reassuring. After agreeing that she did indeed have a hot butt she made her point more clear. The a/c was on full blast, the rear heat control (passenger side over head of my 6 year old cruiserhead in training) was set to the coolest setting. The vents under the center console were blowing HOT heat out to the kids feet and under the front seats. I got home late last night and left early this morning. Now- no speaches about that not being a good way to treat a wife with a hot butt but I had no time to check the truck out.

Has anyone had this issue? I searched and found nothing. There has to be a heater valve stuck right?

Thanks 'mud!

Sounds like a stuck flap / valve. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I'm looking at mode door diagrams. Thinking that might be it. Sadly the truck is at her work in Oshkosh and I am here a work in Fondy. I'll dig in tonight. Just wanted to check the power of 'mud since most issues have been found already. Thanks

My guess for this fault would be the Air Mix Control Servo Motor that controls the set temperature operation. ( a flap opens and closes ) With automatic climate control this servo is constantly opening and closing to keep your temperature "set" at exactly what you selected by mixing cold and hot air. With manual control it would stay in one position. With auto it is going back and forwards all the time and wearing out(one of the bad things about some automatic devices)
It probably has stripped the gears in it, unfortunately if it is this problem the only fix for it is to remove the entire dash and replace the servo. It is at the back of the air box up against the firewall.

So last night when she got home it was working correctly. She leaves this afternoon for a weekend in the twin cities. If something can fail I'd guess it would be at her furthest point from home. I'll bring it in to work monday and see if I can duplicate.

Thanks 'mud.
