Hey guys,

I've searched this to death and I'm going in circles. Seems to be some conflicting info regarding specifically the 2001 LX470 Mark Levinson w/o NAV. I figured a generic double din would fit and work fine? Just may need to bypass the stock amp?? I just tried the GROM BT3 but it turns out it isn't compatible with 2001 ML only (thankfully they let me return it)

So I'm trying to find a reasonably priced double din head unit (less than $300). Literally the only thing I care about is my wife being able to listen to Spotify. Don't need nav, backup cam, DVD, etc. We use Android so android auto seems like what we would want... newest vehicle is 2007 so I'm way behind on tech 😂

I'm about to order these:

head unit

fascia

Anyone see why I couldn't make this work? Open to other head units... seems like Alpine, Jenson, Kenwood all have a similiar HU in this price range. I usually shudder at aftermarket headunits but I see this as my only option

I used a Axxess TYTO-01 for a basic Kenwood double din head unit on my 2001 non nav LX with Mark Levinson (the Axxess kit is to keep the Mark Levinson Amp). I also bought a similar facia. Also needed a antenna Y adapter since we have 2 antenna's. I bought a 100 series specific generic backup camera while I was at it, it replaced one of the lights above the license plate.

just my 2¢: stay away from Kenwood products. They have the longevity of ripe fruit left in the sun.

I put Pioneer NEX stereos in the 80s my children drive (OEM for me) almost 10 years ago. They are still running flawlessly.

They are, after all, Land Cruiser approved:

Thank you, this is exactly the info I was looking for.

I recently bought an '01 LX non-nav Mark Lev and what I assume is the disc changer is driving me crazy when I turn the power on or off. Is this the specific part that I need (despite Cruthfield's site saying it doesn't work with my car)? https://www.crutchfield.com/S-x5208Hk3b75/p_120TYTO01/Axxess-TYTO-01-Wiring-Interface.html

Anyone have a link to the best fascia for installing a double DIN unit?

It's been a few years but that's all I used unless you want to get a 2 antenna adapter. I forgot which fascia I got, I think I just bought one someone referenced here on mud. If I remember right, the Mark Levinson amp remembers the balance/fade settings from the stock head unit, so make sure the balance and fader are all in the middle before you swap it out. I've seen a few LC here on mud with new floating screen's (bigger screens vs a double din), not sure those will work with the LX, so if you go that route, let us know for future reference.
