I may have my 4runner sold...and I CANNOT stop looking at this 01'! It's the color I want and seems clean. Carfax is clear, just under 150k miles. Seats may need to be recovered, but I'm not too worried about that. Keep in mind it's at a dealership, so I'm sure they will have 1k-2k room to work w/ the price.
Oh, and I'll have to make sure the Timing belt and H2O pump have been done. If it were clean, I would not give more than 12k, which they should be able to do...and I have not yet looked up any reviews on this dealer, which I will do. Just picture it w/o the running boards and some 285 M/T's...now you see why I can't stop looking? LOL

Your thoughts??

I personally test drove it a month ago. The biggest problem is sometimes it is hard to start this truck. I test drove it on a Friday evening and I was ready to buy the next morning. I went to the dealership next morning. Guess what? I spent more than 30 minutes to try to start it without any success. There are some other issues, left CV boot is broken, valve cover gasket is leaking, left head light glass has a hole, poor condition of interior. The vehicle drives good though.

Wow, glad I posted then! By "hard to start" what do you mean? Dead battery or turns over w/o starting? Sounds like it has been neglected to some point. MAYBE a person could get a good deal and fix some of those issues, but I'm not that guy. I'll hold out for a nicer one, unless they came WAAAY down on the price and knew the "starting issues" and what it would take to fix it. Thanks!!!

Starter was fine. It just didn't want to start. Something wrong with electircal or fuel syestem. If that one were close to home, I would buy it at low price and try fix it. Have you check that LC personally?

No, I haven't looked at it myself. I'm meeting a guy that may (fingers crossed) buy my 4runner tomorrow. If so, I'll have 13,500 in my pocket-some of which goes to the bank. I'll be financing whatever I buy through the bank where my wife works. I figure 13k to be my max so I can cover taxes and keep our payments the same.
I'm all about fixing things up that are available for cheap, just would have to see this one in person to make that decision. Headlight is not a big deal and the valve cover gasket can be replaced easy enough. The electrical/fuel issue would worry me, but I would have to make for darn sure they fix that first and that I know what the exact problem was.
Anyway, I'll wait for now, but being only 3 hrs away from Memphis, I could make this one work if it were a great deal.
I guess my other concern is if the valve cover is leaking, what kind of service did this Cruiser see over it's life so far? No telling.
Thanks for the help on this one.

Can I ask if you made them an offer and what it was? There again, if it were cheap, I'd be more willing to handle the repairs and have a nice Cruiser. But if they are only coming down to 12k, forget it.

I test drove it just a couple days after they took it as a trade in. Vehicle was not detailed yet at that point. One thing I want to mention is that somebody connected two wires from fuse box to somewhere. I didn't have time to trace them that morning. It looks like the work was done prefessionally but electrical mod could be a nightmare. The price they gave me is a little bit below 12K.
