Hello, I have a 2001 LC. I bought it used last year. and I want to take this black thing off. I've seen other LC100s without it so I assume the truck will work fine without it. I'm only concerned about rust or water leaking after removing this thing. Also does anyone have experience removing this?

(note, the truck pic isn't my rig, just someone else's I found on here to use for example photo! :)

Thanks!

I took mine off, I regret it. IT does a good job keeping dust and snow etc off the back window.
it is attached by 3 bolts on either side. I just tightened them back down hard after removal and had no issue

Thank you for your answer! I don’t do any off roading in mine and always keep it clean so I’m not too worried about any dust but snow is something to think about.

And lex sure! You local?

My wife about tore her "Whale Tail" version and the bottom of the garage door off with hers. Took it all apart and glued all the pieces back together. Still holding after 4-5 months now!

I was going to leave it off too. Go to "Heyco" products, they sell all kinds of rubber hole plugs, figure out the sizes you need. Not 100% sure about the rubber plugs, but they do make a lot of plugs in different colors, besides black.

Same as @krice118. The previous owner of mine broke hers pulling into her garage. I drove it off her driveway with it like that. When I got home, I removed it and simply put the mounting hardware back in w/o sealant. This was ~2 yrs ago and still no leaks.

Yes, working out a deal with @YoungStingy to buy his. :)

The rear spoiler was 1/2 missing when I bought my Cruiser so I removed it completely. I found some button head bolts that fit the 4 bolt holes and installed them with rubber washers and a touch of silicone. It's not as classy or smooth as the trucks that never had a spoiler, but the small button head bolts are not an eyesore. No leaks either.

I will say my back glass gets real dirty but cannot compare the amount of grime to a truck with the spoiler since I never had one.
