2001 Land Cruiser NYC area lower price $13,900
I've decided to sell my Cruiser. It is located in Tuxedo NY (southern Orange County), which is 35 minutes from the GW Bridge and 20 minutes from the Tappan Zee.
VIN JTEHT05JX12010905
Price is now $13,900. Contact details at bottom of post. Clean NYS title in hand, ready to sell.
Drives beautifully, 3k miles on new Yokohamas and brakes, Bilsteins in '08. Truck has 111,000 miles now.
Below is a narrative of my ownership, maintenance performed, and in the interest of full disclosure, a list of a few maintenance squawks that should be addressed. This is a well-maintained vehicle, and I'd love to see it land in good hands, with a positive experience for all involved.
History
I bought the vehicle in February 2006 from a dealer outside of Cleveland. It had 84,000 miles at the time. It's been a long time since I've seen the Carfax, but I believe I'm the third owner.
Maintenance
I have kept up on all maintenance, and the 90k was performed around February 2007. I have moved 3 times since buying it, so the service records are somewhere in a box. They may or may not be available at the time of sale. What follows my recollection of what has been performed.
Right after buying it, in 2/06, I replaced 2 rotors and 4 calipers. I went to one of those cheap places (Conrad's), which was a mistake. The brakes have now been overhauled in 9/09 with OEM parts by a local shop here in NY and work as they should.
Again, the 90k was done in '07, and nothing was spared. Mobil 1 in the diffs, t-case, and engine. Toyota red coolant. Timing belt and water pump. Drop pan, refill ATF. NGK plugs. Lube and torque all sorts of things. Fix parking brake. New gascap. New accessory drive belt (I think). New fuel filter. Unlike the brakes, this was done by a competent mechanic at a good shop.
Here is a chronological list of other repairs and improvements:
2007
-One new fuel injector, followed by 7 more (total all 8 replaced)
2008
-Bilstein shocks
-Replaced exhaust y-pipe back (incl muffler)
2009 (3k miles ago)
-Overhauled brakes
-Repair A/C leak, now it works great
-New tires (Yokohama Geolandar AT-S) x4
-Alignment
-Replace rear diff seal
Mx squawks
The horn, on occasion, fires on its own. This usually happens in the middle of the night, and is a very exciting way to wake up. I replaced the relay, then pulled it when it happened again. This probably relates to dirty contacts in the steering wheel, and should be simple to fix.
The check engine light has come on intermittently over the past 2 weeks. Haven't had a chance to get it to Rick, my mechanic, yet. It's off now, and has been off more than on. Engine running smoothly, no drop in mileage.
In a moment of sheer stupidity, I left the sunroof open in the driveway, right before a thunderstorm last summer. I discovered this a day later, and took her into the garage, shop-vacced the carpets and floor mats, got rid of all water, and set up a fan with open windows for a few days. There is NO smell of mildew from this. In fact, the only lasting sequalae are that the front seat leather puckered a bit, which is only cosmetic, and there are some spots on the wood trim on the center console. Honestly, the wood trim on the Toyota (unlike Lexus) is hokey, and I would just remove it if I were keeping the truck. Now it's up to the new owner to decide.
There is a small leak on the right side of the windshield. This is only an issue in a carwash or driving rain. I had this sealed once before, and it recurred earlier this year.
All in all, these are cosmetic or minor fixes, and the asking price reflects a reasonable discount to allow for these things to be fixed.
Again, the 90k is done, the shocks, tires and brakes are all recent, and the truck has been well-maintained and garaged during the time I've owned it.
I can be reached at joneshvna at gmail dotcom or via PM.
I will post some interior pics when I get around to taking them. Exterior is gray (called thundercloud metallic) and interior is gray also. It has the rear seating option and rear A/C.
