So I am real close to buying a 2000 Tundra with 117k. It is a limited with 4wd and a nice cap. He is asking $11000. My question is what is the life expectancy of the timing belt? Are there any other things that I need to watch out for? Thanks, Matt

The timing belt interval should be in the owners manual, but IIRC, it is at 120k. May as well do the water pump while you are in there.

The timing belt interval should be 90k. And like said above, do the water pump, too.

Those 4.7L V8's are pretty solid engines. I've seen them at 200-300k. Unless it's been flogged like crazy, I don't think you will have any major problems.

Any recommendation to replace the starter contact while the R/R the timing belt and water pump?

http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/guides.php?v=24&y=2000&int_id=64 90K and on the first one, i would do water pump every change! on second cycle i would do all of the timing kit items, tensioners, seals ,idlers x 2, water pump again and both seals and sepentine if it has been more than 4 years!. Sounds like he is trying to download it with you facing a substancial maintenance bill!! or a lotta work?
