I am a fairly new owner to my LX470 and it has only had one previous owner, Anyways my question is after its warmed up the idle does not fluctuate or anything but just feels slightly rough. I know its 14 years old and not expecting it to run like brand new but I always think back to when Lexus had those commercials with the wine glass on the engine as it was revving at MAX rpms and not a move or a shake at all haha. At first I thought maybe it was bad gas but its not I have been told could be the TB I have not checked or cleaned that yet I will soon tho and hopefully that fixes the issue. it just seems slightly rough when idling like its choking ever so slightly. it really is not something that stands out unless your paying attention to it. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on this or has had same experiences? Thanks in advance!
I am going to be doing a full tune up in a week or so but to answer your question I am not sure when they were last changed ... It has 190k miles on it so I was thinking do the basics tune up etc maybe clean the TB and see where that gets me and then I will report back. May take a week or so I am soo busy with work and such but its on my list! Thanks for your reply.
Ok well I have NOT done the tune up yet and the idle issue all of the sudden got worse in my works parking lot today, its VERY rough now and on my way home it was kinda in limp mode i did not want to push it so i was driving about 35mph on streets on the way home and a few times the Engine light started blinking. I am gonna check the codes tonight but if i had to guess I would say coil pack or packs died. I will update when I know the codes. If you have any advice let me know thanks in advance.
Well Turns out it was a misfire in Cylinder 3 I went to my local 24hour autozone bought a coil and replaced it and BAM no more small misfire and no more HUGE misfire it runs better than it ever did! Looks like it had the original toyota Denso coil in there.
