My college aged child has my 2000 LX470 for a few weeks while I do some repairs on her car. She called earlier today to tell me that the truck seems to "fight" her when accelerating at or beyond 72mph when driving in a 75mph speed zone. She reports it will do it if she completely depresses the accelerator but feels shaking in the wheel. My beloved LX has 160K on the meter and I'm pretty sure is on the original spark plugs. Could that be a cause?

Any thoughts on what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

If I were to guess, I'd say coil pack, maybe a week or two away from throwing a code. Plugs are pretty inexpensive and easy, so...

I was guessing a pack could be the culprit. Thanks for the feedback. Will the code reveal which pack is bad? I'll gladly change all the plugs but the OEM packs are kinda pricey for eight so I'd rather change them as needed to save a little.

The code will be something like P0307, the last number indicating the cylinder, seven in this case.

I went with 8 coils for $80 on Amazon, but I wouldn't recommend it.

There's some good coil pack info here:
When to replace Ignition coils.
