I parked my truck for about 2 hours, got back in and the key turns almost freely in the ignition but does not turn anything on. It feels like the cylinder is sheared inside, it turns with no resistance. The steering wheel is locked so I tried Turning key while turning wheel and that's not the problem. Did the ignition cylinder just take a crap?

I repaired my ignition rod with some epoxy and strengthened it with some sheet steel. Just hacksaw a slot in both sides of the snapped rod, making sure the cuts are in the correct position to each other. Cut a piece of metal to fit into the slots and epoxy together. I done this as a temporary repair but have just left it in. I have bought a spare rod for $10 from a seller from Turkey on eBay, but not sure if the cast metal would be any stronger than the repair. Time will tell. Took about 2hrs in labour and overnight for the epoxy to dry.
