I have a 2000 Land Cruiser with a couple of the usual problems and I could use some advice:
1. Sunroof is stuck. I've read the prior posts and believe I need the following parts: 63223-60030, 63224-60030, and 63221-60030. Does anyone know where I can get these for a decent price and how much labor this job takes (I'm willing but not skilled enough to do the work on my own).

2. Starter Motor is going out. I'm probably being an idiot but I cannot ID the part number. Is OEM the way to go here?

3. The buttons on the heater/AC sometimes do not function and have to be pressed HARD. Any easy fix or is this a replace?

4. The rubber housing on the inside of the front drivers side axle looks like it is sucked in. I'm not seeing any leaking grease but was wondering if this is a replacement indicator.

Sorry if I missed some well known solutions; I don't have too much automotive knowledge so I probably missed a few.

How many miles on the vehicle? The starters are known for going out. My starter was replaced with a Toyota Reman at 85,000 miles and needed to be done again at 125,000 miles. Some have tried Bosch and like them. I replaced the plunger and contacts on the starter for ~$40 from Crusier Dan. It's a fair bit of labor to get to. If you search the site, you will see plenty of posts on the subject.

If your rig is getting near 125k miles, you should consider replacing the ignition rod. When you turn the key, it unlocks the steering wheel. If it breaks you are stranded.
Good Luck,
Greg

I've got 157000 on it. Previous owner took care of the timing belt and had the transmission rebuilt. I use it lightly (less than 10000 miles a year).

Thanks for the advice on the ignition rod.

Ditto for the starter contacts replacement. My starter failed at around 90k, had been acting up periodically since 70k. Somewhat involved DIY since the starter is tucked in the valley and the intake manifold has to come off. Simple repair after that. New contacts took care of it, rest of the starter was fine and no problems yet at 182k. Lots of posts in the archives.

Here's a few pic's of the starter, scroll down a few frames. Little or no advantage to combine it with a timing belt job, there are few if any shared steps.

My sunroof is also stuck open in the tilt position. My favorite local body shop won't touch it and said to take it to the dealer. The headliner has to come out. Haven't braved up to doing that yet. Will be interested in hearing how yours turns out. Please re-post when you get it done.

If it's open, what do you do about the rain and snow?

Not open but tilted. I stuffed foam pipe insulation sleeves into the gaps, mostly to cut down on wind noise when driving. Rain & snow not a problem, 330+ days a year of sun.
