Steering wheel time for the dudes with torn up leather!

Anyone running into “technical error” when trying to place an order? It’s saying to call the dealership, which is convenient seeing as how the parts departments are closed.

Tried 2 different dealerships by me, same thing.

Large order.

@Artie the system has been down for several days at world Toyota. I called yesterday and the online parts manager stated they are aware and working on resolving.

Ah, ok. This makes me feel better… I’m over here cussing over nothing. Well, it won’t be nothing if I miss these sale lol

Thanks for the info! I’ll keep this stuff in my cart and try again later.

I wanted/needed transfer case oil 75 w. $130 without discounts for one can. Retail price and could not provide any discounts so I passed. Their online parts has been down since the start of the sale.

I can’t even get that stuff to show up anymore… what part number are you using? Same goes for the gl5 diff oil… you have a working part number for it??

Part number has changed to 08885-01806 for 75w transfer case oil. It does not show up in the Toyota system.

I used Mobil one for differentials about six years ago and after 84k miles. It was fine. This time I used valvoline.

Thanks for the updated number, the guy at the parts desk was cagey about it when I was there last and suggested I buy a different type that they sell through their dealer… I passed.

How do you get the discount if it doesn’t show up in their system?

I’d prefer to stick with the OEM stuff. I’m weird about the dumbest things sometimes.

I am also all about oem. I purchased brake fluid and use the power steering fluid from Toyota. Purchased at the last sale.

I would call Eric at sierra Toyota and ask him or email him. He is very responsive and and problem solves quickly.

I’ve had Eric help me in the past. I made a massive fluid order last year and I may be to blame as to why they stopped shipping that stuff… it was 4 or 5 different orders to qualify for the free shipping. LOTS of fluids…gallons of coolant, gear oil, brake fluid, trans fluid… gallons of each of these. It was gluttony in the truest sense of the word.

I’m now trying to buy local and pick up just to cut out the potential in shipping issues and also to get a Toyota parts counter guy I can build some type of rapport with.

Your fluid orderwas epic. I remember the photos and spreadsheet. Used your spreadsheet for part numbers for the gaskets.

I have had good success with Marietta Toyota, Sandy springs Toyota and world Toyota for local pickups. In the old days, south Atlanta Toyota.

Except when their system is down. They stated that they will not get reimbursed from Toyota for the additional discounts.

Glad I could help!

The two closest dealers to me do not participate in any of these sale. The closest one to me said they are done through a third party or something. I was recently there for t case oil and they had to order the Toyota variant but could sell me their alternative which looked like a generic brand in a plastic gallon jug… I passed.

I had a rough time using Serra Toyota's parts web site for a rather simple $150 order. I kept getting something like "no fitment" for my '17, despite having entered the VIN. So I gave up and ordered from Olathe Toyota which is not participating but had it's usual super easy to use web site. Cost me some shipping (parts prices were about the same, with discounts), but saved me some aggravation.

I’ve never tried Olathe, I’ll have to take a look.

A lot of what I buy also says “fitment can’t be determined” unless it’s on something like brake pads or oil filters. Once you get into buying clips, bushings, or fasteners it never says exact fit for me.

Regardless, you still wouldn’t have been able to close that deal with the sale because they are still having technical difficulties. If I want my order I guess I’ll have to fax it into them on Monday like some prehistoric Neanderthal.

I still had issues today so I called the dealership I was going to pick up from as the website said to do. They said that they couldn’t do anything about it. I tried another, same thing.

Went to Olathe and placed a trimmed down order without issues, costs were close enough but the shipping costs sucks but I can deal with it. I can wait on the other stuff and I prefer my money spending to come without hassle.
