You got that right.
Glen, I feel your pain, plus having to deal w/the public and still trying to have a family life. AND trying to go wheeling in between

Benmara, not directed at you, just needed to vent,
Theres many more expenses not listed.
With a close childhood friend, ONLY 39 years old facing a likely death due to cancer you realize how short life is. join the club, hell i'll pay the $15.00 bucks and come up to URE with us and join the fun. I've come to have a different outlook on life in the last year due to multiple friends dying way to early and my wife previously being a geriatric nurse for 12 years, we're way to familar with death.

On a lighter note i'm new to the wheelin stuff and need some detailed info on equipment, supplies and staples to bring to the URE outing. As well as the utilities if any provided at the campsites. Come join us and show me the ropes.

I have to work so ill be late once again..:crybaby:

Same goes for me as to what to bring and such camping and wheeling.:ban:

we can talk about it tomorrow but I do a fair amount of camping and DBENKE sleeps on the ground more than he does a bed. Not sure if that is because of scouts or his wife making him...but either way it is experience. :D

for rigs I like the basics....winch, tree saver, snatch strap, some heavy duty chains (2ea), 2-4 shackles, a high-lift jack, piece of plywood or a base plate for in mud, leather gloves and if you dont wear sandals or flip flops like me and it is muddy then rubber boots :D Either a CB or a FRS radio for talk on trail...more these days seem to have the FRS radios you can buy in pairs. Not a long range but on the tight trails in east it seems to work fine. I always carry an extra to lend out if needed. Also some way to air down your tires to a specific pressure and then be assured they get back up to safe pressure before journeying home...there is FREE air at Outpost if you know which hose to use. :D :D :D :D

As for camping gear....the big names are pretty good and then it comes down to personal taste and what you think you might need it for...then go one step further to be safe.

I got a couple new pieces this year...Sierra Trading Post, Moosejaw, Backcountry Gear all have good stuff....I got my new tent and bag from Moosejaw...about 60% off for last years models.

mountain hardwear 3 person 3 season tent.... mountain hardwear 0* bag... and then the various coleman stoves, lanterns, pots pans untensils etc....a can of bug spray...some fire starters, some baby wipes, two rolls of toilet paper and a few cans of spam or MREs for emergencies....everything else I buy for the trip but have a basic stash.

DBENKE has a chuck box and enough to outfit a small war party but he can elaborate on his likes and dislikes as he has a lot more outdoor experience than myself...most of mine is military related and different requirements with comfort being low and weight and stealth being higher. LOL

NP i understand the Venting i do it on daily basis at work haha gota love Global Aeronautic

Had a great time guys. great laughs(mostly directed towards Brock), talking and helping each other on our Cruisers. And hey, I even got a free sicker.
Thanks for being on y'alls best behavior.

Yeah, It was nice.....Thanks for the lead through town Mike....I'd have had fun finding my way.....:)

You asked how my 40 was when I got it....This is what it looked like the day I paid for it back in August....Didnt even have clutch, brake, or gas pedals...
Worked on it every day for 2 months before I could drive it on the road.....

some notes from meeting to prove we do stuff other than eat, drink, and talk about doing things:

1- Half of stickers were given to our President, David Benke. Any members that came to meeting were given 2 stickers plus their pick of the others that are in there from vendors and UC as well.

2- The remaining funds were given to DBENKE for the tshirts. They have been paid for and should be ready today or tomorrow. I will get them from vendor as soon as possible to prevent shipping charges when one of us goes up there or they come down here so we do not all have to wait until next meeting. At the latest I will have them with me at Uwharrie and will attempt to give to members that ordered here around TriCounty area before then. The rest will be handed out at meetings or as appropriate except I will be mailing a shirt and stickers to our member in California.

3- Discussed turning our meetings into HAMOMs for a while...using both Docs and Glenns shops. One is in Sumter and one is on James Island in Charleston area. We already have some takers sucha s knuckle rebuilds, body mount chops, brakes, axles, etc. So stay tuned.

4- Discussed trying to pick the same Saturday every month for planning purposes even if we dont have the event or location picked 6 months out you will know it is the second Saturday of each month or whatever works best and does not conflict with UC in case we ever want or need to go up there as well. More to come and will be posted on website.

5- Website is coming along...I am about 30% through in basic build and loading of pictures and information. Dont forget to burn to disk or post on photobucket or picturetrail so I can pull photographs....and prevent having to use the IH8MUD posted pics as they are watermarked automatically by IH8MUD

6- We talked about camping supplies and such for Uwharrie and future events. We talked about the trails at Uwharrie and that we have 15 rigs now on Saturday with a majority spending the night one or both nights. May have to split into two groups to make sure we dont take too much time on trails. it will be a blast...

7- The current website will not be changed until it is replaced...or that is the goal to get me done sooner on the new one. Please visit this forum once a week to see updates or event planning. I will also send an email to the membership when anything new and worthy is posted for membership review so ensure I have a good email. If you have not received anything in months then it is likely going to a different email as I have one listed for everyone.

Then we looked at rigs....flexed BBQBoys rear end (on his FJ) and discussed things manly and without implications....then BBQBoy led OCD through town to a womans perfume store while he continued to Mt Pleasant with his lovely wife topless (the FJ not the wife) in the threatening rain.

We met ShermanFJ62 and saw again othere members such as DBENKE, LEXTECH, OCD, TTAHARA,BBQBoy and MsBBQ, and ScottShelley and his new FJ80 grinning from ear to ear.

Great time...I apologize that the location was not nearly as good as I implied...I will do better next time. :D

Looks like I missed a good one. I had a good excuse; went to a skeet shoot fundraiser for Camp Kemo at the BackWoods Quail Club in Georgetown.

I did get my stickers yesterday evening (thanks Jim OCD).
I hope to be picking up the shirts and rolling them to Charleston this week. Brock - look for my call later for details.

You guys obviously covered some club meeting things before the meeting started at 1:00 ??? I thought I was reading minutes from a meeting I missed for a second....lol

Check ... That's Scott Shelly (greenseaman), not Scott Johnson with the new (to him) 80

your watch must be slow....LOL or you were paying attention to the scenery too much :D :D

OCD. You have done some nice things since you've had the 40. Good Jo.

It was great meeting everyone.cant wait for ure. brock that was a nice place...my 80 got a little hot going over the bridge that the lanes were closed on. Looks like I'll be repairing the fan clutch soon... Jim you did a great job on the 40...wow!hope to see everyone soon.

my apologies if the meeting started before 1pm...I thought we started on time but apparently not. Next meeting we can do the business after we eat to ensure everyone is there and nothing is missed for those that drive long distances.

once again it was never the intent to prevent anyone's participation in club decisions.
