We have the powered mast on the front passenger, by the wheel... there is also what appears to be an in window antenna on the rear passenger wing / vent window. I've searched several different ways but found nothing definitive about what this antenna is or how it functions in general. If the powered/mechanical front mast breaks etc, could you just use the integrated window rear ant? Would it just work immediately if the powered mass broke or got stuck down, bent or became questionably functional or would one need to make tweaks / plug adjustments? TLC 2001

Any light shed or links to relevant search finds would be greatly appreciated. I'm asking this question in anticipation of a powered mast issue / break or whatever; where the window integrated antenna could potentially suffice...as the radio is rarely used anyway.

Thanks

Sorry I'm not really helping but all I had to do was buy a cheap adapter on Amazon to connect my rear antenna. My front broke and everything worked fine with that rear one connected. I'll see if I can find the cable in my amazon purchase list.

It was these two items that I connected to make it work. I couldn't I can't recall exactly what I connected though. But it was easy.

The antenna is integrated with the window and would look "similar" to what a rear window defroster looks like but with only two passes or two "strips" around the window inner perimeter (vs the defroster covering the entire window)

I understand, pretty sure my 1998 doesn't have it, but I've seen that style in windshields and back windows.
I posted about this a week or so ago, my 98 had the same car-phone-like antenna. As near as I could tell, that's exactly what it was. The install of the equipment was done fairly well (nothing seemed to be spliced, it was easy to remove the box from the wiring harness and plug everything back together). Since using a car phone antenna as a radio antenna is above my pay grade, I ripped it out. It was contributing to a leak in my passenger quarter window stripping. 99% it's a car phone antenna.

The rear window antenna is present and is oem, whether or not the truck was oem-wired for a phone.

Google lexus diversity antenna for more info. ;)

You will need the other antenna if you listen to AM.
