Gday all,
I've got a HZJ75 with around 220 kms on the clock. Thinking about bolting a turbo on for a little bit more sting. I dont want anything extreme - just a little bit more get up and go. I was contemplating bolting on a 1HDT turbo with mild boost. Thoughts? Is it possible to get an adapter for my current manifold or would I need to change that also? Also for a mild setup would I need to change fuel pump setup? As it's just my run around ute I dont want to spend thousands on it.

Cheers.

For the ct26 you will need a 1hd-t manifold half.
You can buy adapter plates to suit other Garrett turbos to suit your 1hz manifold.

I highly suggest getting a 3" exhaust, putting a boost comp on the pump so it doesn't smoke like a cummins and spend the premium for a GTurbo. You can get the job done without a gturbo but they really make the truck fun to drive.
Make sure you get a pyrometer and put it in pre turbo so you can tune the truck safely.

I got mine from all american imports in Holland. They deliver almost all the Turbos for the european market. It's a very known and tested system. Driving with it since 60'000km with no problems so far!
You will get a complete kit with everything you need for about 1500Euros.
I also installed an EGT before the Turbo and don't exceed 500Celcius, only rarely I go to 550Celcius and even more rare peak quickly to 600Celcius...
Bost Compensator (also from AAI) I let install from one of the best Denso IP specialist in North America at Raj in Vancouver (former Fred Holmes Fuel Injection) He did a perfect job! But I had to remove the IP for this.

cheers

Just what I was told:

yes, you can...
The diesel injection specialist just told me it would be possible, but surely not ideal.
He calibrated the whole pump on his machine and set the BC with the correct vacuum, injection amount etc. so that it works perfect on my engine.
I am not an IP specialist, but I could imagine that he didn't tell me BS since I had to do the IP anyway (thanks to the Canada sulphur free Diesel who destroyed my IP on my trip!). He recommended to remove it and install it on his bench and test and adjust it correctly. When you do that, you can test the rest of the pump if it's still working right...
The car runs 2x stronger since this rebuilt and my mpg went down from about 15liter/100km (15.8mpg) to 11.9liter/100km (19.9mph) with my 3.8tons! Now in Latinamerica I am back to 13-14liter but that's because of the damn speedbumps everywhere (means stop & go => bad mileage with my weight)

my 2 cents

i have a denco kit on my hzj75 and its awesome even at 12 psi installed at 220k , been running great for 40k have 260k on it now and i may have just possibly done a clutch / gearbox. so my advise it take in to consideration the extra stress on the drive train if Ur clutch / gearbox/ diffs ect. are a little tired expect to be fixing them in the near future once u add a turbo.
