Hey guys.
Recently I got a hole in my radiator so I bought a new one. The problem is that the new radiator has metal tanks not plastic like the original. The problem with this is the mounting points for my plastic fan shroud aren't the same. I don't know what fan shroud I need to get or where from. Any info on that would be awesome.
The other thing is my thermostat. I'm not sure how to get the old one out. I know where the two bolts are but I'm not sure how to get anything in there to get them out. Any tips for this would also be great.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Can't help you on the whole shroud thing but the thermostat is easy

Remove the cast aluminum pipe off the bock on the RH side. Behind the pipe is the thermostat. Pop this out and replace with a new one. Done

If thermostat present trouble use some sort of hook on it and pull.

Thanks for the fast reply. I get how to undo it and replace it. I just can't get to the bolts to undo it:/ do I have to take the alternator off too as that is what seems to be blocking the way if I am remembering correctly.
So yeah do I take that off or is there an easier way around it?
Thanks again

What year and model is it?
Asking where to get things is pointless if you don't mention your locality,I could tell you to go to the nearest dealer in Australia but you probably don't live there. Someone who is in your area maybe able to help.

Can you just loosen the alternator enough to swivel it out of the way?
Will the new radiator fit to the old mountings?
An old metal radiator will need the old fan shroud unless you can modify the one you have.
It sounds like they have sent you a 75 series radiator

Hey yeah sorry I'm in brisbane australia.
I will try that with the alternator.
And the radiator is a new one. Got it an online site. But didn't see anything on there about the right shroud to go with it.

If its a 75 series it should have an all metal radiator. The aluminium and plastic tanks were on the 78/79 series which is why you have been sent a an all metal radiator most likely.
You should be able to pick up the bits and pieces from a wrecker or classifieds.

The radiator which was on before this one was on when I bought it. And it had plastic tanks and plastic fan shroud. Looking at the site again it says this radiator is suited for engines with a metal fan shroud. Which I don't have. So if I just get a standard metal fan shroud I think it should be alright. Hopefully.

Yes ,all you need is the appropriate fan shroud. I was thinking someone has put the plastic/aluminium radiator on before you owned it
I checked the parts diagram,it only shows one radiator for the 75 series from 93-98 in australia, pat number 16400-17071
What year is yours?

One more thing, I bought an aftermarket metal radiator a few years back which was supposed to be identical to the OEM 1HZ ,but getting all the holes to line up took me a couple of hours as all the drilled holes were out by half a mm.

98.
Maybe because it's not an original toyota radiator now is why it's different. Anyway I'll just look for a metal shroud. Thanks

I already did it a few times on my super packed HZJ75 with AC! Just take a 12mm wrench with 12 points. I have very small hands, so get in between there, but it's always a HUGE hassle!
