hi guys
noticed the other day my troopy (97 oz delivered) is a little smokey at certain times. Stock 1 HZ circa 250k's

In the near zero temps of winter (here in sunny western australia!) 1st thing in the morning after a short glow she starts straight up -barely turns over - so am thinking the compression must be kinda ok
She doesnt use any oil unless i am towing the boat (which is 2.5 ton) and then she uses a bit
I noticed however when i have been at the lights idling for a while-then pull off (not heavy throttle ) she leaves a white-blueish cloud of smoke hanging in the air..... -its not a big cloud but i am also not pulling off fast
I got my mate to follow me the other day and he said she puffs a bit of white smoke when i am changing gears (ie as throttle coming off)
If you wind her up she will blow a fair bit of smoke at the top of the rev range -but the smoke is prob more toward mid-dark grey....

you think this is valve seats/seals? - or maybe the rings?
Any suggestions? - trying to work out whether to rebuild or repair - $$ is a consideration as the car is not worth a lot given the poor body... (but we still love her!)
cheers
Bill

hey mate, sounds like valve stem seals. try leaving it to idle for a few minutes in the driveway then rev it up and hold the revs up. if it does it then clears up then yeah most likely stem seals. dont need to rebuild to replace them, a lot of motor places would be able to do that without pulling the head

thks mate
thats exactly what happens - i rebuilt a 12ht anout 10 yrs ago - didnt mind it but didnt enjoy it if you know what i mean! - will see if i get can some pricing
cheers
Bill
