Hi guys

I was just looking at part numbers and see that it seems that the 1HZ injection nozzle needs a gasket?!

11176-64010 SEAT, INJECTION NOZZLE

11177-64010 GASKET, INJECTION NOZZLE SEAT

I always only used a NEW nozzle brass seat ring, that's it! I remember I once got those smaller gasket rings, but they were so small, I thought they would fall into the chamber, so I discarded them!
I drove 80'000km like that without any problems but the injectors were totally full of carbon when I removed them lately. Is that the reason?! Should I remove the new injectors (2000km on it) and install those gasket rings? And where to they go? I still can't see how they fit since they are so small... can I reuse the seats? (brass rings)

Thank you for any hint!

When I put the gasket in ,they just sat on a ledge, they couldnt fall in.
The fuel injection is so important to a diesel, its one thing that I always do painstakingly the way the book says.

Ok, removed today the injectors on a camping near the border to Peru.
I still had those small seals since 2 years with me since I never found out how to use them.
To be honest, when I got the car 3 years ago and I change the injectors there were no such
seals, only the brass ring and so I installed the new injectors with new brass rings and thought
that's the seal... I also never had any sign of leakage...
But anyway, now it's how it's supposed to be...

The new injectors have 2000km on it and were TOTALLY full of carbon already! So bad, that
on 4 it took me 5min to get the brass ring off because they were held in place by so much carbon!
I wonder if it's the Diesel quality here?
The injection pump timing is perfect set at 1.09mm as FSM... I even put a Diesel injector
cleaner in there 500km ago... no surprise my injectors are dead so quickly if they have
so much carbon!
Or is that normal to have this much of carbon???

Yea, all IDI injectors (99% anyway) have both a SEAT and a GASKET.
The seat sets the height of the nozzle tip in the head, the gasket seals from blow by around the nozzle tip.
If you leave out either it will cause knocking, poor economy, smoking, etc. Ask me how I know.....
