I would offer him the $6500.
Would you be doing the work on it yourself?
A prado door would fit that truck.
Not to mention I think it could be cleaned up.

In the end what are you intentions for the truck? Are you going to wheel it or just daily drive it.
In the end if you have a hzj77 with lockers, a winch and a 1hz for 7k. I think its a fair enough deal.

Lets put it this way, a nice one out of Japan sells for easily 3 times that. I don't even think I could buy a used one for that cost in Japan.

Don't take my word 100%, if your will to put in the work I think the truck will treat you well, they are reliable and I love mine to bits. Just depends if you want a showroom truck or not.

I'm going to daily drive it. Wouldn't be doing much wheeling. Only the occasional annual trip to go camping.

I wouldn't be able to do the work myself. I'm willing to learn, but I don't have time at the moment. Hence why I'm on a tighter budget because I usually send my vehicle to a workshop or something.

I think I'm going to pass on this and wait for a manual one to come up. Hopefully I won't regret this decision.

I offered him $6500 and he said no. $7500 is his absolute minimum. I'll wait till sunday and if doesn't sell I could always try offering him $6500 again to see if he wants to sell it.

Haha.. And here I was, thinking that the 1KZ isn't that bad.

Auction is closing today. I won't be rushing the buy it. Unless it doesn't sell and I could get an AA inspection, or else I will be waiting for a manual one to come up.

Cheers for all the advise guys. I'll be aiming for the 1HZ now instead of looking for a 1KZ.
