Injector life span is probably 150k max. Well that's for IDI, I'm actually not too sure about DI. Most don't change out their injectors until well after they're toast. My dad has 445k kms on his 6.2 injectors! I'd love to see what they look like. He looks like a steam loco going down the road.

O really, thats just to funny. Well, I might as well get them done. I can't stand the cloud of smoke. People are always giving me the eye when i give the truck a little gas. hahaha. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Can pump timing be checked on the truck? Or is it a remove the fuel pump thing? I'm still getting lots of smoke with new injectors. Turning down the fuel helped a bit (PO turned it up I think) but its still smokier than I'd like.

When the pump is installed their are some lines on the pump and timing housing that must be aligned.
Im sure you can see them from an under bonnet inspection.
I think the shop said it can be adjusted at this point but normally it stays on these marks.

On the bench adjustment has 23 pages in the FSM and requires lots of special equipment

I had my injectors done at Ateb (they send to Allied Holmes; price in line with what others paid). Definitely less smoke after having them done, fuel economy basically the same. My truck blows very, very little smoke. It's barely noticeable, even under heavy load up a hill. I guess that's a good thing.

Hey guys...Well, i just got my truck back from the shop. I took my truck to GCL Diesel in Edmonton. Injectors were good so didn't have to get them rebuilt. Looks like the fuel pump was tampered with so they adjusted it and black smoke gone well Just a little bit on hard acceleration but i'm happy with that. It cost me 340 to get the truck diagnosed and for them to adjust the pump though . O well. I'm just glad that i don’t smoke like i use to when just driving the truck normally. So those of you that have to much black smoke. Check the fuel pump 1st.
