Hi all, I gave my PS pump for rebuilt and they did not mount the gear properly. Messed the key and did not torque the nut. Came loose and cracked the timing gear cover. If any has a timing gear cover for a 1HDFT, I'll kill someone for you.

Cheers

Didn’t realize you had such a special occupation, Now we know how you got the name “Ofer”….

It’s the wrong one. Look at the bottom of the harmonic balancer.

If SNLC has one here in the US already, that's going to be a cheaper way to go than the one I can get that would need to be shipped to the US.

I was wrong, I only have FTE spares. Also appears new is NLA. Another FT part that is game over.

So it’s all you my man!

Cheers

No problem - my guy seems to be able to find just about anything and he's got this timing cover on hand.

You know, I have a friend in Israel, that claims that I am the only aerospace engineer that went to grad in Stanford, worked at NASA and became a diesel mechanic....

Reminds me of the great Liam Neeson lines from Taken: "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you...."

Nice to meet another Stanford grad (Stanford law 2002, and hence my original handle on mud: lawsklsux).

i can help if you'd care to PM me

your offer is spectacular as well, I will keep your info in my "black book" in the event I get too busy

Did this failure nearly cause an adverse medical event? I would think that after all the time and energy you have put into that 70 series that an exploding PS pump taking out a timing cover would not be good for anyone's physical/mental health.

And I think I understand why your first thoughts go to hired guns.

It's worst then that. I drove to Stockton to pick replacement and found out when installing that its the wrong one. One the way back, my wife's Prius died and my Phone ran out of battery. New phone fully charged in the morning. Came to the officer and the keyboard died. But...

I have a friend that is suffering from a terminal illness. It put thing in perspective what is important and what not. Also... I've been through 2 wars in the middle east as a demolition officer ("The hurt Locker") so i'm cool with this ordeal. But what amazes me the most is the great community that supports this. It's like a cult that believes in Toyota. I have friends worldwide and by the way, I have a part arriving tomorrow (FedEx Sat delivery), my friends paint shop has fine glass in the blaster ready. I have the seals ready and 3D printed the tools to insert the seals. So we are good. No one died. :)

Well, the saga continues. FedEx LOST the package with the only cover in the US. The troopy has been fighting me. But I’ll quote Churchill. “We’ll never give up, we will never surrender “. I’m a bit bummed.
