1HD FTE engine oil

Hi all, I'm taking over my own servicing again after a break following the sale of my HJ61. So the local Fuchs oil rep recommended 5w30 full synthetic oil for the turbo diesel 1HD FTE engine, the book states 10w40 I think and that would be mineral, so realy just after some opinions.

The book states different things, depending on the temperature?
Do you expect to drive at -20C? That's what the 5W30 is recommended for.

Also, mind the oil composition - the manual recommends API CF−4, which is an outdated spec, but a comparable one could be found. I am better versed with the European specs which for this engine would be ACEA B3/B4 (but not B5). Nowadays most oils are C1/2/3 which caters for DPFs and cats which were not around when our engines were designed. Lower ash, better for the environment, worse lubrication.
