hey adrian,

I would recomend getting a boost gauge... hd series engines boost 9 PSi stock... after installing an intercooler you are going to have a drop in boost because the air is cooler ... I would recomend compensateing the boost to 9PSi and take it from there...

If you still feel you can boost more get a pyrometer and install as close you can to your block... this way you can measure EGT's and boost safely...

let us know how it goes!

you may aslo want to try to post in the international section since most of the guys here have FZJ80

there may be more diesel owners in the Int. section...

I noticed a BOV in this pic

what purpose does it serve on an HD if there is no throttle body?

nice link LX_TREME ... makes me wish I knew Japanese!

By the way, those are HKS SQV the purpose of Blow-Off & Bypass Valves have one goal, prevent compressor surge. Compressor surge occurs when the throttle plate of a turbocharged engine closes and the pressurized air is forced back into the turbocharger’s compressor housing causing the turbo to slow down. Compressor surge not only decreases the spool of a turbo but can also damage its center cartridge.
P.S: About the HKS SSQV (Super Sequential Blow Off Valve) system.

0,85bar

adjust the diesel mass screw inn 1-1,25 turn making the engine gett more diesel.

adjust this 2-3 notches clockvice

and eadjust this down intill you gett a black smoke dott when rewing and then back a bit.

oh and get a 3" exhost system will you, and a pop-off walve has no effect on a diesel.

thanks for the info... I'm pretty familiar with how BOV work and up do date in super sequentials... what i was trying to get at was what Neowolf said:

Since there is no throttle body on HD series engine there is never any backpressure... at least not enough for there to be a reason to install a BOV... in fact the valve wouldn't even swooooosh :D

Thats why I was curious as to the use of that valve in the mentioned pic... maybe that kit incorporates a throttle body?
Maybe those those KRD guys are boosting so high that they use for protection?

All I know is we got some homework to do now!
