Hello everyone
I'm new to this awesome website and this is my first post :)
I have an 80 series 1992 VXR Land Cruiser that I got for free with a seised engine in it. I went to a guy who worked on it before and he told me that the engine is toast. it's been rebuilt before and it was seised due to massive overheating. He said it's not worth rebuilding and I should look for a used engine instead.
I looked for engines to replace it and found some, but then after doing some research I found that I can convert it to diesel which I really want to do.
Now, my question is how hard is it to do the conversion?
some things to conceder:
* The car I want to work on currently has:
a 6 cylinder Inline 1fz-f carburetor engine
a 5 speed manual gearbox

* The conversion I want to do is:
a 6 cylinder inline turbo charged 1hd-t engine
keep the same gearbox

Known that I'v never been in contact with diesel engine before or know how they work as a SYSTEM (I know what is a diesel engine though and how it's different from a petrol, I'm not talking about that  ):
What are the requirements for this conversion?
What parts I need to replace (same fuel tank?, fuel lines?, engine mounts?, Transfer case?, clutch and/or related parts?)
What are other things to conceder (fuel pump, fuel filter, other thing!)?
Auxiliary (battery, alternator, compressor, power steering)?

Labor and part are very cheap in my country because this is the most common 4X4 and it available in both Petrol and Diesel so parts is not an issue.
please give me all your thoughts, tips, guides and ideas on this conversion. I'm very open and would like to do it

If my memory serves me right, the bellhousings between the 1FZ and 1HD-T based engines are different. But's it's been a bit so I could be wrong. You can re-use your fuel tank after you clean it out. There are many other things that will need to be replaced however the 1HD-T will bolt in place where the 1FZ was. Lots of info here if you want to wade through it:

Thanks for the info..
The post you shared has much more than I need since he has an auto. trans.
my hope is that I can bolt the 1hd-t right in place of the 1fz-f but I read somewhere that is bolts to the chase which doesn't sound right to me.
I'm trying to make it a simple as possible since both engine options are available to this car. I'm also trying to sick with mechanical witch I can work on. that why I don't wanna take the 1hd-te route.

The worst part of any conversion is all the little parts & wire looms.

If you can find a rolled/ wrecked diesel 80 & swap all parts from a single donor vehicle, this will make the process 3x faster & alot cheaper overall.

Since you’re new to motor swapping, I highly suggest this route.

That's kinda the plan but I want to gather as much information and ideas from experts and people who've really had done it

It’s far more expedient in the NA market to buy a 1/2 cut vehicle & import from Canada.

The top stickied threads of motor swaps may help, or search the diesel swap terms & tag Mud in google, a few guys here have 1HD-T(E) motors in originally 1FZ bays.

I've read some great articles about 1hd-t swaps but I always find something missing and I believe that is due to my little mechanical knowledge.

I didn't find a complete guide on what is needed to do the swap.
I hope one of the guys who've done it make a write-up guide for the swap. I mean like a list on what needs to be done and what are the requirements on such a conversion since this particular car is offered in both petrol and diesel, which means the car is half ready for the swap

Nope. Manual H151F transmission was the conversion so yours is actually going to be simpler on that route. You'll have to address the fact that the speedo and tach won't work, different fuel lines and pick up, etc..... I suggest that you take the time to read through that build thread as Steve and I documented ALL the stuff you'll have to swap to get the conversion done. Granted, it'll be just "slightly" less for you since you have the manual transmission already.

That's very nice to hear man. I'm reading through that awesome thread and I'm finding some really helpful information and tips.
I'll get back when I'm done reading, then I'll be able to ask just the right questions.
