I went to start my 1999 LC and just as I turned the key to enable to solenoid my finger got caught in my key chain so although I "bumped" the starter - I returned the key to first position and went to start it again - no power - no lights - dead as a doornail.

I know it is not the battery - no electric doors, no cabin lights, nothing. I believe it is a main line fuse that is keeping me from getting any power in any key position.

I have searched a bit on the web and read about an EFI fuse, an issue with a small gauge wire to the EFI that corrodes or disconnects.

Anyone have any quick ideas that I can try? I am stuck in downtown Atlanta - may have to tow to the house and trouble shoot there.

Your advise is greatly appreciated.

do you get nothing in the cabin in the acc position? the acc circuit does not go through the efi relay. so there are a lot of different blown fuses needed to explain no power at all to anything.

it sounds like a loose battery connection, fusible links or you somehow broke the ignition switch. do you have a different key to try?

Check the Fusible link, or the connection at the battery.

Maybe try running a jumper around the fusible link, and see if you get power.

I agree with semlin: - even if you blew the EFI fuse, you should still get power to accessories.

If you have no power at all to anything, then the problem is either the fusible link, the connection to the battery, or possibly a busted ignition switch.

I would check the connections and fuses/fusible link at the battery in the first instance.

If possible, use a continuity tester - looks can be deceiving.

Does the key 'feel' normal when turned. It does sound like a failed ignition switch or link rod.

If the ignition switch is the problem, then the map lights, interior lights, power door locks, etc. should still work, as those functions will work even without a key in the ignition.

If the interior lights will not come on at all, and the power door locks are dead, then my bet is a bad connection or blown fuse at the battery.

I believe it is the fusible link - main fuse. I am learning that I must unbolt the fuse box from the fender then unscrew or unbolt the fuse from the bottom -

Can anyone confirm the process so I bring the right tools back downtown to where my truck it? I am guessing 10mm socket with extension to remove the fuse box - then on open end wrench or phillips screw driver to detach the fuse and replace.

Does this sound right? I am not with my truck so I am lost!! May just have to dig in then go get what I need.

Is this a model year change? On my '99 I have a block with large replaceable fuses in it. Can't tell from the pics in the other thread if they are the same thing.

Mine looks like this one:
