1999 4Runner Rear window issue (buzz only) (3 Viewers)

When you hit the switch, you can hear a buzz in the rear hatch area, but that's it. No movement up or down. (The buzz lasts as long as you're pressing on the switch.)

Seems almost like the window wants to move, but doesn't.

I figure the buzz means:
1) The switch up front isn't broken
2) The motor may be working but can't get the job done (?)

Any other potential causes than that the window is off the guide or something? (I can't get inside because it's not my Runner--thinking about buying it)

Does it work if you use the keyhole on the back tailgate?

haven't asked...I'll ask him to check. Also, the key fob isn't original, so no way to see if it works by remote
