Well, I was just starting to feel good about fixing two coil packs and my check engine light went away. Coming home today I turned off of the main highway and started heading up a hill on another highway. The transmission will not shift out of 1st to a higher gear. Once I got to the top of the hill it would only coast until I was on an upgrade and then it will only pull in 1st until the grade slopes downward again. I am going to check the transmission fluid, but checking to see if this sounds like something that happened to anyone else. Thanks,

This hasnt happened to me in a land cruiser but a previous ford had a similar problem. It wouldnt switch out of 1st gear but i was able to rev it up to 3,000 rpm let back off the gas significantly (but not all the way) and then get back on it again semi quickly and that would switch it into second gear, even this sometimes took a few tries. I took it to a transmission specialist (it was a while ago so i dont remember what specifically it was) and he rebuilt first gear and the problem was fixed.

Ok, started up the LC and it has ran fine for the last couple weeks. No problems. Today, my wife took it for a 50 mile round trip and ran the cruise control on the way to her destination. When she started it back up to head home and pulled out from a stop sign on to the main highway it started up the same thing with the transmission. Coasting it would not shift to a higher gear and when it was under a load it would pull but not shift higher. Does anyone have any ideas here? It has to be a sensor or something for the way it acts.
