Hello- I am looking at purchasing a 1998 LX470 with 159,000 miles. No Locker, Has AHC. They are asking $11,900 but said they will negotiate since they have had it for 7 months.

Here is what has been done recently from the Toyota Dealer:
We inspected the suspension, but performed no service on it. We performed an oil change, replaced the front brake pads and resurfaced the rotors, evacuated and recharged the ac system, rotated tires, water pump and timing belt replacement, tune up with new coils and plugs, fuel induction service, brake system flush, and power steering service.

The vehicle looks in decent shape, but I didn't know if this was a good deal.

I'd say on the high side of the range. I don't know where you are but in the Mid-Atlantic we're seeing them from 10K to 11.5 for that year and around 150K. Dealers will add 500 to 1,000 to that. I'd negotiate them to their best price.

If you have access to the Toyota site and have the VIN you can see all dealer service records. These rigs are granite they say. I say they are gold.

The variance in pricing is always so amazing to me, I've been trying for months to sell my '98 LC and haven't gotten any looks at 8200.

Thanks for the heads-up on the service. This one has seemed to have a few issues. I am located in Western KY/Southern IL area.

Larss- Where is your 98 located? How many miles?

That price seems to be more in line with 2000 models. Unless it's in emmaculate condition, I'd say pass. Lots of good options in the classifieds here, if you're willing to travel. I bought mine out of state and it was an awesome 14 hour drive back.

In minneapolis with 186000 miles. and I've offered delivery to denver or chicago, still nothing.
Needs a timing belt and I got a guy that'll do it for 675, but haven't done it cus not sure I'd get that money out of it.

Well isn't that the issue with a used vehicles... many buyers of these trucks know that it would be really nice if the TB had been done by the PO. That was something I was looking for when I was on the hunt :meh:

I tend to agree that most buyers will immediately ask if it's been done and if it hasn't they just pass and look for one that has been done. IMO you'd probably get a lot more interest if you take down the for sale ad for a little bit, get the work done, post it up again with pictures of the receipts for the work and you'll be able to get rid of it quick.

I guess I could see how that makes sense. I am consiering a $7400 offer that a local guy gave as his top dollar.

(sorry for the thread hijack)
