Does anyone know what might cause this to happen. Truck starts fine when cold, but when hot, I cannot get it to start without numerous gas pumps and on and off ignition tries. Afraid I am flooding engine by doing that too.

Car starts fine when cool, iffy at best when hot. Sometimes I have to let the car totally cool down to restart.

Thanks.

"pumping the gas" does nothing on this fuel injected engine... turning the key completely off then all the way on several times but Not turning the engine over will put fuel into the engine... BUT it could be a fuel issue ethanol does weird stuff when it's hot... if you can in your area try to find some ethanol free fuel and just see if that cures the problem...
think that is where I would start.... but I'd be curious enough to give it a shot of starting fluid when it was hot just to see if it was a "not getting fuel" issue when hot

starting fluid is ether... commonly used on diesels that don't have glow plugs... or on anything that is hard to start in my world... comes in an aerosol can $3 at autozone... but if you have to ask... not everyone should be allowed to have a can... but then I have mounted tractor tires with it.... whole different story
