My dad has the aformentioned truck, and has had ridiculously terrible luck with his seatbelts (front). I think both sides have been replaced with OEM 3-4 times. same problem recurring... eventually they stock retracting. the dealership used to clean them out (temporary fix usuallY), then gave up and replaced them under warranty twice, and out of warranty once or twice.

He needs another (his 4th or 5th) replacement and asked me to ask around for alternatives. He does not wheel, this is his DD. I thought of mentioning 5 pt restraints but don't think he'll go for that.

Is there a good aftermarket belt mfg?

thanks.

I know that this is a common problem on these trucks and the fixes are usually what you have already mentioned. You could try taking apart the mechanism and winding the spring tighter, although I would be cautious with that. The 80 series has a TSB out on this that directed the dealers to put asmall teflon strip one the shoulder anchor point to decrease friction. You could try that.....

I've had good luck with the replacement belts from ccot, never tried them in a tacoma though. They seem to have the best price.
