Oh man, this really sucks!
I hate to sell this truck.
I really do but having three automobiles (including 2 cruisers) and three motorcycles has just become too much for me. It's paid off and insurance is like 12 dollars a month. I do not have to sell but really do prefer to let someone else enjoy a great truck.
Here we go:
As stated above, this is a 1997 Nissan king cab Pickup. Not a Frontier but the last of the classic Nissans. It has a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder and an automatic transmission. It is two wheel drive. Currently has 157,XXX miles. Located in Fort Worth, Texas.
Bought the truck in 1996 after I got a divorce and this has been an outstanding vehicle. It actually rivals my first new car, a 1993 Mazda B2200 pick-up - another legend for reliability - for low cost of ownership. This is a great truck for hauling bikes as it has a low tailgate height. Holds one BMW GS with side bags.
Good gas mileage. I have calculated it as getting around 265 miles out of a 12 gallon tank.
I was very attentive to this truck, changing the oil every 3,000 miles. I use FRAM tough guard filters as they have the anti drainback valve. Use these or OEM Nissan filters. Currently using 15w40 Castrol GTX Diesel motor oli. This is an SL rated oil with lots of ZDDP and it has held up well during our hot Texas summers.
The good:
It's a Nissan 4-cylinder - burns maybe .5 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles
It's a king cab
AC works great
Radiator replaced within last year
Tires are really good - replaced October 2010
New starter installed last summer
New Alternator installed last summer
New idle solonoid installed last summer
New front shocks in last 6 months
New front brake rotors and pads within last year
Battery within last year
Headliner redone within last 2 months
New valve cover gasket installed recently
Tranny feels great. Drain and refill with Castrol ATF a months ago.
NEVER TOWED WITH THIS TRUCK. There is no hitch or trailer light harness. The tow bumper chrome is perfect.
THE AWESOME!
Timing chain replaced last summer with new guides and tensioner. It is a big job and the truck is good to go for a looooong time now! Did not cheap out on the timing chain kit either. I have the receipt.
The not so good:
windshield has a crack across the lower quarter. It has been there for some time and I have had the truck inspected several times. A bonus for Texas buyers is that I am going to have the truck inspected in the next few weeks so you will be good to go for a year.
I did bump someone in the rear - easy, folks! - so the bumper is mashed a bit. Damage to the other car, a new Beetle was costed out at $500.00 to repair. Just messed up their bumper cover.
There are a couple other little marks on the truck at the front DS fender and on the DS rocker.
There is a small hole in the drivers seat lumbar support. Probably just big enough for a sharpie marker to fit into it. The pic shows the hole.
There is a small oil leak. I am pretty convinced it is the pan gasket. Cleaned off the engine and you can see it pretty clearly. I have done the research and it looks like the pan can be dropped pretty easily as the suspension crossmember bolts in.
The steering wheel cover is a little ragged. All it needs is one of those covers and you are good to go.
Windshield washers do not work. I think the line is clogged or something.
In the end, this is a really good truck and, like I said, would be happy to keep it. It's just a pain moving three cars around and I think someone else could benefit from the rig. I would not hesitate to get in this truck and drive it to Alaska tomorrow. It would be a nice ride too!
I have priced the truck at $3,500. Open to any and all fair offers. not considering trades right now.
This is right at Kelly Blue Book for very good condition - which I think it is. As noted above, I have also done a fair amount to the truck in the last year or so. I have receipts for the timing chain and the radiator. We can go to NAPA if you want and you can see the warranties for the starter, alternator, brake pads, etc.
I will throw in several oil filter wrenches, a Haynes manual, and a set of rear brake shoes. When I did the fronts I was prepared to do the rears but they did not need to be replaced!

Sweet new headliner!

Good tires:

If you would like any more information, please drop me a PM. Happy to show you the truck within a reasonable distance and we could work something out to help with delivery.
Thanks for looking.
