My buddy is looking at buying a his neighbor's truck.
It was his daughter's and she just got a Prius and they want to sell the 4Runner.

I took a look at it for him. Immaculate, bone stock, all maintainence records. 71,XXX miles. Your read that right, on a 1996. He wants $3,500.

I told my buddy to go home, grab his check book, and get back in that man's driveway ASAP.

Is it me, or is he asking about half of what that is worth?

I'm not sure it's half but, without any checking, it does seem lower than it could be with those kind of miles and condition. What's the trim level?

2 wheel automatic, well equipped. Not sure about the trim level. Currently requires no repairs (allegedly).

4cylinder-
Probably doesn't need anything right now.

If it's a v6-
For what ever reason the 96 and 97 (i think, might be 98 also) model years have a 60,000 mile interval on the timing belt, 98 and later (or 99 and later) are 90,000 mile interval.....not sure why, have never gotten a decent answer.....

Good price but needs timing belt, thermostat and water pump soon.

If you look on the front of the engine at the timing cover, there should be a little sticker on it (with dates and miles), if the timing belt was done.
