is there any clearcoat that retains the flat finish?

No clearcoat. I have gone through many car washes and it still looks the same. I am very happy with it so far. For some reason, the flat black makes the car look larger. I was told black was suppose to make things look smaller...

tail light guards

where did you get the tail light guards. i cant seem to find any

Not sure about that one in Seattle, but a few miles south (Pacific, WA) you can find "Black Betty"

I was going to do my motorcycle flat black but as I am in the Army I came across a bunch of flat desert tan. I suspect the LC will get the same treatment when the paint goes south. It's champaign now. I like the non-metalic tan that all the underhood is painted as well. Flat black looks good though.
