I have a problem with my 3.0L engine. it seems that two Cyls are dead (Good spark, to the plugs, but no change if I remove the plug to either of the CYLs. I just had the compression checked and sure enough...those two cylinders have basically 0 compression and a 95% leak down...so now what????
There is no oil in the water, it is running as good as can be expected on 4 cylinders. I did have two events that I am sure did not help the condition of the engine any. First I was in an accident that busted an engine mount
(passenger side) and did some fairly extensive external damage to the the various parts on that side (all repaired and it was running fairly good) this was in 2002. The second thing that happened my radiator sprung a leak and the engine overheated almost to shut down.
I have replaced the radiator, but nothing else. I think I started noticing problems before the radiator leak, but I am not sure...that was about a year ago. things have definetly gotten worse over the past 2 months.
The repair shop wants to sell me a replacement engine for between $2400 and $3500 (a couple different options from new to used.) I am thinking that it might be worth at least investigating a repair.
Any one have any ideas on what to check, or what I might be looking at repair wise?
Thanks,
Steve in Phoenix
