I am now selling my "backup" vehicle, a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I simply do not need it any more, I need the space and need the money to fund my current project/daily driver.

The Jeep is located in Canyon Country, CA. 91351, which is near Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA.

I will be as descriptive as possible, so this will be a long read.

Specs:

Year: 1993
Make: Jeep
Model: Grand Cherokee ZJ
Engine: 5.2L V8 (220 HP/285 ft./lb)
Transmission: 4 speed Automatic
Drive: AWD (Quadra-Trac - constant), 4WD H/L
Mileage Rating: 14/18 (that is not too far off, actually)
Miles: 124,xxx

PDL, PW, PS, *AC, PB, **ABS, AWD, Brakes: front-disc/rear-drum, Fog Lights, Power Seats, Tilt-Steering, Cloth Interior.

The vehicle is stock, no lift, but has been taken into the local trails a few times to verify 4WD operation and to keep things lubricated. I had/have no intentions of using this vehicle for any real off road driving.

There is no stereo system at all; all speakers were removed along with the after market stereo that was installed after I bought it.

Mechanical notes:

*AC: The rotary switch to power on/differentiate between modes is not operational, and therefore is constantly on. This can be replaced with a similar unit from a wrecking yard.

**ABS: I pulled the ABS relay right after I bought it since it was not operating properly. With the ABS system operational, it made for pretty scary braking, in that the brakes would operate as though you were stopping on ice (ABS pump would groan, lack of stopping power). I elected to pull the ABS relay as other Grand Cherokee owners had done with similar issues. In doing so, stopping power is restored but without ABS, so lock-up is possible if emergency-braking.

In addition, I have replaced the front pads and bought new rear brake shoes; the front pads were (at the time of removal) at about 60%, but I replaced them anyway. The rear shoes did not need replaced after inspecting them. I am not sure if I still have the brake shoes, but they are cheap to buy in the event they require replacing.

There is a noticeable squeal coming from the front brakes; it almost sounds like metal-on-metal, but again, these are new pads. The rotors may need to be resurfaced to resolve this sound.

Tires:
The tires are at about 50%, and one was replaced with the spare, so new tires may be in order; but the spare has not leaked in the eight months or so that it has been on.

Engine Performance:

The engine is powerful and performs excellently when passing on the highway and for city driving. I have never had an issue with the engine, but it does require much warm-up time after it has been sitting for a while. I would start it up monthly, and sometimes every three to four months, and in doing so it would take some time to warm up.

When driven daily, warm-up time is decreased significantly.

The Engine does need a tune up, and is about due for an oil change.

Transmission:

The transmission shifts smoothly and is considered one of the better transmissions of the early ZJ line up. There is no slippage and always engages without issue.

There is, however, a leak coming from the transmission (verified that it is indeed transmission fluid, and not engine oil) when the vehicle is on level ground or facing up hill; when facing down hill, it does not leak. The leak seems to be coming from where the transmission meets the engine, or thereabout. Oddly enough, there is no noticeable loss in fluid on the dipstick during inspection.

Pictures:

These were taken just after I purchased it ~two years ago; the appearance has not changed much at all, as the paint and interior and engine compartment have not been damaged.

I will, at the request of anyone, take as many pictures of any area of your choosing of it's current condition.

Asking Price:

KBB.COM: Fair condition: $2340
Autotrader.com: $2900 (lowest price within 500-mile radius of 91351)

I am asking: NEW PRICE: $1000.00, was $1200.00

Thanks for looking!

I am moving really soon and I will not have the space to store it. I am open to offers.

I will also trade this Jeep for an A442F (1993-1994 FZJ80) transmission that has reasonably low mileage and that is in good mechanical condition and $400.00 cash or installation of the transmission.

I made it to the new house, still have this Jeep. Does anyone have anything to trade, perhaps? I am looking for the following items for the 80:

-More than a 3" lift
-After market rear bumper
-ARB front winch mount bumper
-Cash?
