I have read through a bunch of similar forums but found no real specific answer or relation to my set of issues.

I have had a check engine light for a few months and I haven't had time to address it until yesterday. Pull the code and its 25, Lean air fuel. It is not a daily driver but I would like to get it figured out.

Previously as described in other forums I had a split of all the 02 wires over the trans tunnel. this was an obvious reason for the CEL. Unfortunately due to where the split was I was only able to get heat seal crimp connectors to reconnect the wiring. Initially this resolved my CEL issue, then once again on a road trip the light comes back on.

So that brings me up to this point where i've actually pulled the code. In other forums there are intermittent lights, lights on within a few miles etc. Mine is coming on hundreds of miles into a reset. (400 or so miles is my best guess.) I have inspected vacuum lines with carb cleaner as well as the intake hose, though I am about to go buy new hose clamps.

I taped up the silver wire lining that was hanging out of the blue wire by the driver side cat(also described in another forum I found) and just reset it, im about 140 miles into the reset with no light.

Could someone please help me in where to start looking to resolve this? I am trying to figure out the O2 sensor testing via diag port and multimeter but I cant seem to find clear instructions on the procedure and dont currently own an FSM.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer some guidance. Last question, since i have some 300 mile trips coming up this week should I just unplug and run rich if I cannot resolve for the time being?

Repair exhaust leaks and check for engine vacuum leaks.

Engine vacuum leaks can stem from valve cover gasket, spark plug tube seals, PCV grommet as well as brake booster line, not just vacuum hoses.
