Recently I havebeen hearing this clacking noise when my hdj81 is idling,it sounds pretty familiar to me as I’ve heard this noise before,2LTE crank pulley noise,yes I’ve changed a few separated harmonic pulleys on 2LTE with this kind of noise,on closer inspection sure enough the pulley is loose,with only 250,000 km.
To change the pulley I remove the steering stabilizer and tool the pulley #2 off and made a tool to hold the crank pulley,and started loosening the big 32mm bolt with a 2.5 ft breaker bar unsuccessfully,then I heat the nut a bit with a torch and was able to loosen the nut,then proceed to remove the pulley with a puller,was able to change the pulley without taking the fan or fan shroud out.
