1990 LJ78

The 4 wheel drive shifter is somewhat difficult to move ( in both directions ). Any thoughts on what is causing the resistance:
lack of lubrication, bent shaft, lack of use, etc. I unfortunately do not have maintenance manuals for this vehicle.

Clean up the pivot, lubricate it well once you've cleaned it up.

To get to the pivot, you'll have to climb under the truck and remove the nut on the end of the pivot bolt. Slide off the shifter and go at 'er.

I do realize lack of use certainly played a role in my current issue
however my LJ78 is simply a people mover and the 4X4 features are seldom used. After I follow John's instructions, I will make an effort to engage the system more often. Thanks......1978HJ45
