The time to sell this truck may be near. I just bought a Honda Ridgeline ( I know I know
).
Note this truck is now 25 years old and therefore available for import to the U.S.
I imported this truck from Japan back in 2007 with about 90,000kms (56,000 miles) and have been driving it since. Mostly I drive it to work (5 miles), with the occasional weekend trip (camping, etc). It now has 135,000kms (84,000 miles).
Some details:
It's a 1990 LN106 with the 2.8 non-turbo diesel (3L)
100% stock - no mods. Original paint - no evidence of repainting or accidents.
Limited slip rear diff
5-speed
Air, tilt wheel, AM radio. Pretty basic but all original and everything works.
The truck has been VERY reliable. Has only required normal maintenance. I've been running Rotella Synthetic 0W40 in the winter, and 15W40 in the summer, changed every spring/fall so less than 5000 km per change on average. WIX filters from Napa. I've flushed the coolant twice since 2007 with long life diesel mixed 50/50. Transmission, transfer case, and front axle are running 75w90 Synthetic gear oil. The rear axle has non-synthetic 80w90 with LSD additive.
The only other work done was I rebuilt both front knuckles this past winter as the right side was leaking a bit of gear oil at the hub. What a dirty job! So it has all new seals from Marlin Crawler, new knuckle bearings, repacked wheel bearings, etc. At the time I also upgraded the brakes to new 4Runner calipers and Landcruiser Rotors also from Marlin. New tires (Cooper) installed about 1000 miles ago.
It starts down to about -15C (5 deg F) in the winter. For colder temps I installed a lower rad hose heater (600W Temco) that works well and it will start at -40C if plugged in for 3 hours.
The truck has just a few minor defects - a small vinyl rip in the lower part of the drivers seat, and a rust spot under the rear sliding window that was there in 2007 and seems to be staying about the same. That's about it!
I can give more details, video, etc if/when I decide to sell it. I know I'll never find another one like this so I'm a bit reluctant.
