hi from Turkiye,

i just got a lj70 2.4 non turbo diesel, (old 2L 2446cc) and tranny is G40-four speed.

anyone tried 2L swap to 3L (from hilux 2.8 ltr)? would 3L normal aspirated diesel fit in my Lj70?

i prefer 3L, because easy to find 1989 2.8 hilux engine and tranny in Turkiye.

All L-series engine fits together. I tried to find 5L'(3l) engine to my land cruiser, no luck. Now there are going MB OM605 engine.

I know Crusher is gonna crush me on this, but i would go with 1KZ.
Bence 1KZ daha kuvvetli ve ekonomli gelir. Foruma HOSGELDIN!

Take out the 2L...3L should bolt directly in...but engine mounts depands where it came from. The 3L will bolt up to the G40 box.

As others mentioned, best forget the L series and go for something at least 3.0 and a 5 speed box.

All the L series engines 3L 5L etc are a bolt in away you go, 1PZ 1KZ etc are not that easy. So yes take out the 2L and bolt in a 3L from a hilux, easiest bet. And if your engine is infact a 2Lte take the turbo manifolds etc off the 2Lte and put directly onto the 3L. Very common engine conversion.

Thats a good reason to do the 3L swap.
