Hi Everyone,
Great forum! This is my first post...here goes!

I searched "coolant hose routing", "throttle body", "idle speed control", etc....basically everything I could think of, but couldn't find a picture or diagram (or even a description) of the "correct" (stock) bypass hose routing. Please let me know if I missed a thread (I'm sure you will!;)).

Are my coolant bypass hoses routed correctly?

Note the three coolant bypass hoses that run from the bypass hard-line, to the idle speed control valve, to the throttle body, and back to the bypass hard-line. This is the way the PO had them installed when I bought the truck in July. First thing I did was replace all hoses with new (Toyota OEM). So, I just pulled the old hoses off, cut the new hoses to length, and didn't even think about it.

The FSM does not have a good diagram of exactly how they are supposed to be routed. Now that I'm looking at it for the 1000th time, the way the PO routed the hoses does not look correct.

It looks like the PO had it set up so that hoses 2 and 3 circulated coolant "through" the throttle body...but not in the correct direction. What do you guys think? If it is "incorrect" (non-stock), do you think it would make any difference to the ISC function?

Would be simple to go out and switch them around....but of course, I cut the hoses!!! Now I don't have one long enough to go from the throttle body to the hard-line!!!

Im not one hundred percent but I believe you may have the two hoses backwards red needs to be were blue is but I cannot confirm but I would say it may not matter either but again I cannot confirm

And good job on your first post sir I like

I have mine completely bypassed and have no trouble cold or hot. I have bypassed these same hoses on many other vehicles and they all ran fine. I don't feel that we need to heat up the throttle body anyway as colder air is better for the engine regarding air density even if the difference is marginal. I say ditch em all together and have less possible leaks in the future.

^ this

unless you live where it snows etc. by-passing it will give better throttle response and fuel economy. Although its small every little bit counts

Do you mean bypass the throttle body, the idle speed control valve, or both?

Thanks!

Both!
