BODY:
1988 Toyota 4Runner in good condition. The Toyota has no rust because it came from Arizona. Some of the paint on the hood and roof are faded from the AZ heat and sun. Also, the dash has a few cracks. Come out and inspect this 4runner and you will find there is no rust in the rear wheel wells, the pinch weld is perfect and still has the original paint on it. Every door including the rear door has no rust along the bottom pinch weld and the sealer is not cracked. All VIN numbers on panels match up. The paint is 100% original. There are a few dents and scratches on the body for being almost 20 years old. The paint on the bottom half looks excellent and shiny while the top half being exposed to the sun has some fading and such. The only rust on the truck are the metal side window frames. This can be removed and fixed easily. This is not part of the actual body. refer to the pictures.
INTERIOR:
Interior is in decent shape. The carpet was dingy and black when I purchased it. I removed all seats and console and removed all carpet pieces and took to the car wash and spent $35 soaping and washing the carpets. The rear cargo carpets were the worst. One of the previous owners used this as a hunting rig and there was a huge blood stain in the back from a deer. I got all of that out and cleaned up all of the grease spots. Plastic pieces on door panels are kind of broke but are still sturdy. The only switch on the truck that does not work is the low setting of the heat/A/C blower motor switch. The two middle positions and high work. All lights function properly. Rear window control switches work great. Rear wiper/washer switch works great. I added a rear window switch in the rear cargo area that operates the rear window. I intended to use this to camp out of and it was a hassle having to go to the front to roll the window up and down, with the ignition on. There is a rip in the drivers seat. Lumbar, seat height, and side bolster adjustments all work. Rear heat works and is hot. The center console mount is broke but is still sturdy. Console cushion was reupholstered sometime in the past with cloth and looks nice. The shifter boot is kind of nasty looking but does the job. Horn works. New horn contact was installed. Dash pad is cracked from the AZ heat. 4 floor mats included and CD PLAYER IS NOT INCLUDED. Speakers sound great, I do not know what kind they are though (not original). Glove box light works great as well as the lights left on buzzer. Seats are in decent shape, small rips on drivers side and they could use a good cleaning.
ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN:
3.0 V6 with just over 200k miles. Engine runs strong. Has never left me stranded. Looks like plugs and cap were replaced recently before I purchased in January with OEM wires and cap. OEM clutch master cylinder and power steering pump. New starter replaced last week. I test my mileage every fill up. I drive until it's empty, fill it all the way up, reset trip meter and drive until empty and fill it up again, divide miles on trip meter by the amount of gallons and repeat steps. I consistently average 18 mpg without the A/C on. I have gotten as high as 19.25 and as low as 17.5. 5 Speed shifts smoothly but could probably use a new bushing under the shifter. 4wheel drive works great. Truck used to have the Automatic hubs but were replaced with Warn hubs sometime in the past. When I first purchased the 4runner I was getting about 14-15mpg. Cruise did not work. I found out the vacuum lines were crossed and the cruise control actuator was filling up with condensation. I replaced the actuator with one I had laying around and fixed the vacuum lines and picked up the extra few mpg's this rig is supposed to get. Also, the cruise works great as it should now.
DRIVING:
4runner drives primarily straight. Tires need balancing though and one tire may have a slight flat spot. Drive it and you will see. The Toyota community nickname this engine as the 3.sl0w which it is but it keeps up with traffic well and passes well.
Things that need to be repaired. Tires need to be balanced. There is a slight leak from the engine as well. Previous owner said he had front and rear main seals replaced but it looks like the rear seal still has a slight leak. I never have an oil spot in the garage from it, it just has oil on the transmission. Also, the rotors could stand to be turned.
The reason I am selling is because I have too many projects. I just bought 2 FJ55's and bought my wife a '66 beetle, plus her car and my diesel toyota. The 4runner is always available for a test drive or to look at. I live in south Belton (south KC off 71hwy)
I had intentions of painting it, putting new suspension on and tires with sr5 wheels.
$3200, Belton, MO (south KC)
